About This Spot

Stepping into Restaurante Casa Cid is like entering a warmly familiar corner of Galicia, where time moves at the rhythm of friendly chatter and the clink of dishes being passed around. Tucked just outside the busier streets of Ourense, this bar & grill carries the comfortable hum of a local favorite—a place where neighbors gather, and travelers who stumble upon it feel quietly welcomed into the fold.

The buzz of the dining room is alive but never overwhelming. Plates arrive swiftly, carrying generous portions that feel rooted in tradition and simplicity rather than showmanship. The atmosphere strikes a balance between bustling and functional, with a hint of personal touch revealed in the subtle decorations that nod to the region’s racing passions, giving the space a quietly confident character.

Here, the menu reflects the season and the sea, the land and its heritage, gently inviting you to explore Galician culinary staples and everyday comforts alike. Whether it’s the smoky warmth of grilled chipirones, the satisfying heartiness of a well-made cocido, or the delicate seasoning of pulpo a la gallega, each dish tells a story of ingredients cared for and recipes handed down. This is a place where a simple salad or a decadent tarta de queso share table space with the meals that truly evoke the local spirit.

The pace of service—steady and attentive—matches the flow of conversation and the easy camaraderie found here. Staff move with purposeful energy, making clear that efficiency here supports a well-loved routine rather than hurried formality. It's a dynamic that both locals and visitors seem to appreciate, turning meals into moments of real connection rather than just nourishment.

Restaurante Casa Cid is ultimately less about spectacle and more about feeling seen and fed in a way that resonates. It’s a dependable kind of place where each visit can reveal a new favorite corner of the menu or a shifting warmth in the room. Perfect for those who crave a genuine taste of Galicia beyond the usual tourist trails—unpretentious, spirited, and quietly sure of itself.

Busy and bustling menu del día restaurant with a huge selection of dishes to choose from. The service is lightning fast and friendly. The Galician cozido is very popular here.

Friendly. Good food. Became our local whilst staying close by.

This restaurant is a hidden gem. Situated a bit outside of Ourense and definitely not aiming in tourists. But the quality of food is amazing, especially if you take the price into consideration. The ambience of the restaurant functional, but stylish - as there are some racing souvenirs and memories included. As there is a lot of guests and constant traffic, the staff is rather in a rush, so don’t be shy and search contact!

I ordered “fileta de ternera” and soup. Soup was nice but beef steak was little bit hard. It was difficult to chew. The rest was good
